Malayalam is a Dravidian language spoken by over 34 million people as a first language, and by another 2 million as a second language. It is the official language of the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry. Malayalam is also spoken in parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
